Leela Mehta-Harwitz

Student

Hi, my name is Leela Mehta-Harwitz and I'm a first-year at UC Berkeley hoping to major in Molecular and Cell Biology with a minor in Philosophy! I grew up vegetarian, but as friends cleared away my cognitive dissonance and the ethical violations of all animal products became clear to me, I felt pulled to go vegan about a year and a half ago. As an aspiring immunologist who hopes to one day run my own lab, and as a student who currently faces the prospect of using lab animals at every turn, I am excited to be a part of a movement that reduces unnecessary animal suffering in science.
